The K-25 Astron Alpha™ marks the 60th anniversary of one of the most iconic model rockets ever made. To honor the original design, Estes has recreated this timeless kit with incredible attention to detail. The result is a rocket that looks and feels like the same one that launched the model rocketry movement back in the 1960s.
Authentic Vintage Details
Every element of the K-25 Astron Alpha™ has been carefully restored to reflect the original build experience. The nose cone is crafted from genuine balsa wood and shaped to match the original profile. The laser-cut balsa fins include angled tips not seen in modern versions for decades. Even the engine mount has been faithfully reproduced with card stock centering rings and an original-style metal hook. Every piece pays homage to the roots of the hobby.
Beautiful, Reliable Performance
This special edition may be a vintage design, but it performs like a champion. The Astron Alpha™ soars up to 1,500 feet on standard 18 mm Estes engines and returns safely under its 12-inch parachute. The clean, simple lines and classic red and white color scheme give it a striking look that stands out on display or at the launch pad.
What You’ll Need
To complete your build and prepare for flight, you’ll need basic modeling supplies such as glue, hobby tools, and finishing materials (not included). For launch, use a Porta-Pad® II Launch Pad, Electron Beam® Launch Controller, recovery wadding, and your choice of recommended engines: A8-3, B6-4, C6-5, or C6-7.
A Rocket That Connects Generations
For those who built the original and for newcomers discovering the magic of model rocketry, the K-25 Astron Alpha™ bridges the gap between generations.
