Rocketarium Sandia Tomahawk Scale Rocket

The actual Sandia Tomahawk was most often flown as the sustainer in a two-stage configuration.

The scale (single stage) version of the Tomahawk sounding rocket measures over 3 feet tall (38.35").  Quality parts include : plywood centering rings, balsa fin stock, translucent nose cone, 15" plastic parachute kit, and more.

Fly this rocket on D to F motors for mid-power excitement.  Decals are for the retainers bolts on the plates between the fins only. The bands on the rocket are painted.

Challenges

A body tube is sliced into sections which are glued between the fins. A template is provided to mark the cutting lines. The balsa wood fins are pre-cut.  The Sandia Tomahawk is offered for sale as a Skill Level 3 rocket kit.

This step is optional, the kit can be built and flown without these "metal plates". They do add to the style of the kit and make it easier to paint those areas.
