    Custom Model Rocket Orbit kit

Posted by Happy Rocketeer on 22nd Jun 2023

My first kit for my re-entry (ha-ha) into the hobby after about 50 years. Easy build. Good first flight, except that engine ejected instead of forward section, so a full ballistic recovery. Strongly suggest installing a motor hook instead of relying upon masking tape for a snug fit of the motor in the body tube. My hook was externally glued to the body tube, then braced with small zip ties. Not a design fault; I'm sure the designers were thinking along the lines of simplicity for beginning builders. All flights since motor hook addition (and some crash damage repair!) have been flawless and satisfying. You'll like this rocket.

First kit in my return to the hobby after almost 50 years. Great to remember the building techniques I used all those years ago. The kit went together well, and I expect it will fly as good as it looks. Thanks, eRockets!

    Custom Rocket Company Orbit kit

The Orbit is my first welcome-back project after a hiatus from model rocketry for about 50 years. It's amazing how the old building skills reactivate. I like the quality of the raw components for the Orbit, and especially the practical time-savers; the laser-cut balsa fins and the plastic nose cone & payload reducer/adapter. I also liked the assembly manual format, especially the notes that made sure I didn't do something I'd regret. The Orbit is a nicely-sized rocket for general flying, and I can't imagine a simpler, better color scheme for it. I highly recommend this Skill Level 1 kit for all rocketeers. Best of all, it's Made In The USA!
